  Once again this year, the Cape Fear Fair and Expo will feature educational as well as individual exhibits inside the Agriculture Exhibit Tent. The educational booths can be reserved by any formally organized nonprofit club or group who wants to prepare an exhibit for the fair.

Individual exhibits are open to the residents of New Hanover, Pender and Brunswick counties. Items that can be entered include: field crops, horticultural crops, culinary, clothing, needlework, arts and crafts, youth and vocational entries. The items must have been made during this year and all exhibits should be taken to the fair grounds according to the following schedule:

    Schedule of Entries:

    • Monday, October 22, 2007: 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm
    • Tuesday, October 23, 2007: 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm
    • Wednesday, October 24, 2007: 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm

Special Entries Schedule:

  • Baked Goods Entries*: Saturday, October 27, 2007: 9:00 am to 11:00 am
  • Cut Flowers Entries*: Saturday, October 27, 2007: 9:00 am to 11:00 am

*These entries will be accepted in a designated place at the front entrance to the Fair.

Judging for Special Entries starts promptly at 11:00 am. NO LATE ENTRIES WILL BE ACCEPTED. ONLY TWO (2) ENTRIES PER PERSON PER CATEGORY!

Each exhibitor is responsible for picking up his entries on Sunday, November 4, 2007 from 11:00 am until 2:00 pm. ALL ENTRIES NOT PICKED UP BY 2:00 PM WILL BECOME PROPERTY OF THE CAPE FEAR FAIR AND EXPO. NO EXCEPTIONS!!

  • RULES AND REGULATIONS:
    • 1. The Fair Management reserves the right to rule on all matters not covered in these regulations.
    • 2. Entries in this fair are open to residents of New Hanover, Pender and Brunswick counties only, in either open competition, adult competition or student competition.
    • 3. Each exhibitor is responsible for proper delivery and registering of exhibits.
    • 4. Booth exhibitors are responsible for proper delivery and placing of exhibits on Tuesday and Wednesday, October 23rd and 24th, from noon until 7:00 pm. Judging on these booths will take place on Friday, October 26th at 9:00 am.
    • 5. Exhibits not correctly entered will be disqualified for prizes.
    • 6. The decision of the judges will be final in all matters concerning the order of placing exhibits for prizes.
    • 7. The management will provide what it considers reasonable precautions, but will not be responsible for the welfare of any exhibit entered in the fair.
    • 8. Exhibits or parts of exhibits not removed by 2:00 pm on Sunday, November 4th, will be disposed of by the fair management in the manner that seems most convenient to them. Exhibits must be picked up from 11:00 am until 2:00 pm on Sunday, November 4th.
    • 9. Prizes will be distributed when exhibits are picked up. No charges for transportation to or from the fair will be paid by the management.
    • 10. No article will be entitled to space until proper entry has been made and it is prepared for entry as listed in the specific Divisions.
    • 11. The management reserves the right to reject any entry provided all available space for that class of exhibit has been exhausted.
    • 12. The management reserves the right to limit the quantity of entries in the same division or same department.

Judges and Judging of Exhibits:

The management will select judges for each class whom they consider capable and fair. the written report must be made by the judges of each class before winners are announced. No rules for judges will be issued to the judges by the fair management. in the event the judge decides a winning exhibit is not worthy of a first prize, it will be given the prize designated by the judge.
