Livestock Tent:

 

One person may not enter more than two (2) animals per individual class. The awarding of prize money will be based on the number of entries in each category as follows:

* 1 entry per category - 2nd place price money only 2 or more entries per category Ribbons will be awarded for all first, second, and third place winners. The judges will use discretion in awarding prizes as to the worthiness of the entries and may reserve the right to withhold a prize if the entry is deemed unworthy. All judges’ decisions are final. All bids that need to be tested for pullorum will be tested on Wednesday, October 29th, 3:00 to 6:00 pm. Animals are allowed to be entered from 3:00 pm to 10:00 pm, Wednesday, October 29th, 2008. No entry fee is required. Feed is provided. All animals must be removed from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm, Sunday, November 9, 2008.

Regulations

1. All out-of-state cattle must have been tested for Bang’s Disease at least 120 days before the fair. North Carolina cattle do not have to be tested for Bang’s Disease.

2. Cattle must be free of infectious/contagious diseases including foot rot, mange, pink-eye, ringworm, warts, and cow-pox.

3. Breeding swine may be exhibited.

4. Swine must be free of infectious/contagious diseases including atrophic rhinitis and mange.

5. Sheep/Goats must be free of infectious/contagious diseases including foot rot, pink-eye, and ringworm.

6. Horses must be free of infectious/contagious diseases including distemper, mange, ringworm, and equine infectious anemia. All horses must be certified free of equine infectious aremia.

7. Poultry must be free of infectious/contagious diseases including infectious bronchitis, corqza, pullorum, fowl-pox, external parasites, and laryngotracheitis.

8. Rabbits must be free of infectious/contagious diseases including snuffles, coccidiosis, and external parasites.

9. All required tests must be in the name of the animal’s owner or family of exhibitor.

10. All poultry will be inspected by a certified inspector from the state of North Carolina. Any sign of infectious or contagious disease will result in the animals removal from the livestock exhibit.

11. Any sign of infectious or contagious disease will result in the animal’s removal from the livestock exhibit. Fair management has the right to ask owner to remove any animal that has questionable behavior and/or health
concerns.

12. All out-of-state animals must be accompanied by a health certificate dated within 90 days of the fair stating date.

Livestock General Rules and Regulations

(Entries are open to anyone)

1. Owners must provide a water and feed schedule for each animal entered. Any special diets or special feeding requirements will be discussed with the Livestock Superintendent.

2. Bedding, feed and water will be provided by the Cape Fear Fair and Expo. We reserve the right to choose the brand of feed to be used. Any participant wishing to provide feed for their animals may do so. Livestock staff should be present when animal is fed.

3. Substitutions: Will be permitted, but must be made no later than Wednesday, October 29th at 12:00 pm. with the Livestock Superintendent.

4. The decisions of the judges shall be final in all cases except mistakes, fraud, misrepresentation or collusion not discovered at the time of the award.
